Ibadan: Man Hits Wife With SledgeHammer, Commits Suicide Thinking HeKilled Her

Residents of a community in Ibadan on Sunday made a distress call to the police to report a domestic dispute involving a 41-year-old man named Ahmed Olanrewaju and his 38yr-old wife (name withheld). According to neighbourhood sources – Ahmed in the process of fighting and 

beating his wife – hit her head with a sledge hammer – causing her to fall unconscious.
Ahmed who watched his wife lay on the floor lifeless – thought he had beaten her to dead. In a state of panic, he mounted the ceiling of the family house and hanged himself with a rope and died at the scene. Concerned neighbours who rushed into the couple’s flat, quickly drove the unconscious wife to the hospital where she was revived.
Sadly, Ahmed is dead while his wife is currently responding to treatment at the hospital.
